Julieta Beam - Online College Instructor Gain an understanding of an online professor's perspective on the commitment of her online students.
Video Transcript
My name is Julieta Beam. I teach three different classes.
I look forward to reading my students emails and getting back with them. I think that's key for the students - to see you are doing something you like. The students know what they want; they know they want to be here. The commitment level is very high. I know the sacrifices they are making, so I try to be cooperative and make their study life as convenient as possible.
Students make comments about the convenience and ability to further their education with having three kids. Without online education, it would not be possible. I remember when my mother graduated as an attorney. She had such harshness to go through; it would have been much easier for her to take classes online and she would have been very happy with them.
I find online education to be addictive. I am very dependent on my students. One time I could not be with my students, and I flew to Washington, D.C. to ensure my students were being taken care of. I don't feel this is a job, but the most beautiful thing you can do for a living.
